The cinderback boar roams the smoldering thickets of the Emberwild Reaches, its rough hide shot through with veins of hot coal that glow orange-red when agitated. Local hunters give these creatures wide berth — a panicked boar charge can set an entire grove alight, and its dying throes scatter burning fragments for yards in every direction. The beasts are drawn to volcanic soil and ash meadows, where they root for mineral-rich tubers that feed the slow combustion within their bodies. A herd of cinderback boars stampeding through dry brush is considered one of the Reaches most dangerous natural events.
